Meeting of the reconvened Health Professions Council (HPC) Professional Liaison Group (PLG)12 May 2010The PLG reconvened for a half day meeting to review the work that needed to be done in the light of the response to the consultation on the regulation of counselling and psychotherapy. The membership of the PLG remains the same. Only one of the HPC Council members of the PLG attended this meeting. Members may recall that the consultation responses overwhelmingly rejected the proposed differentiation between counselling and psychotherapy and the proposed Standards of Proficiency and threshold entry standards. There was no clear response over the separate regulation for work with children and young people. These issues seem to be the focus of the work of the PLG. The PLG will meet from September 2010 to February 2011 and HPC will also hold public meetings in all four home countries in the autumn. Other interested partied will be invited to join the PLG to put forward their views, including those people who oppose regulation in the HPC. |
